Internet in Angola
Angola is well on its way to becoming a major role player on the Internet. Telecom Angola is the sole supplier of telecommunication as falls under the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. Thus, all internet connectivity depends on this system. Telecommunications in the capital city are good but all other areas suffer from problems such as difficulty connecting. An alternative route to the Internet is via a cellular phone network called Telemovil but again this is only in the capital city. There are five ISPs in Angola: (1)Link via Global One (US), (2)The University of Angola (Portugal), (3)Ebonet, (4)NetAngola and (5)Angonet. Setup cost are 50USD and up. Connection fees are 420USD and up. There is also a charge for local calls which amounts to 6-14USD per hour plus a monthly phone line rental fee of 10USD per month. There are plans in the works to try to improve the country's phone line system in order to spread internet access into other areas outside the capital city and to improve the quality of communications overall.
